What is white pudding?

Hi everyone,

We have posted up a story this today from Janey who is currently doing some work experience with the online team. Janey has written about white pudding - has anyone else tried this? Anything to add to Janey's news story?

Like black pudding without the blood !!
Grew up in Devon where it is still made by all the butchers. Quite spicy. Wonderful spread on toast or fried .
Think I may have to mail my brother to send some up !

That's so funny because pudding in the US is so different than it is there.
When I read the title of the thread, I pictured... well, something quite different.

Re: What is white pudding?

White pudding differs to Black pudding as it does not contain the blood but is an Oatmeal , bread and often pork based dish that is made in a similar way to Black pudding.

Eddie , pudding here is usually refers to the desert that follows a meal , but there are a few savory puddings and this I presume is to do with the texture of the finished product.
Things like Pease pudding which is a savory dish made from split dried yellow peas.
Black pudding , thick savory sausage shaped and made mostly from blood .

Re: What is white pudding?

Yes, and it's very good.  I've had it in Ireland and England but have never seen it here.  After reading the article, I would be interested in making it myself.  I'll look around for a recipe if no one else happens to have one.
