Battery ban under threat
Compassion in world farming.
"Earlier this week, Poland proposed that the ban on conventional battery cages should be postponed for five years until 2017. Jim Fitzpatrick MP, the Defra Minister responsible for animal welfare, will be present at the EU Agricultural Council on 22 February, when Ministers will address this proposal. We need him to vigorously oppose Poland’s suggestion and for the Council to reject it".

Chicken batteries are simply torture. No country in the world should be allowed to do this. I really really really hope they will abolish it. ![]()

Re: Battery ban under threat
The sooner they ban all battery farms the sooner people will have no choice but to buy eggs from chickens which have been treated with a little (if not a lot
) more care.
If they ban them, whatever replaces them will probably be only a little better overall but it is a start.
I only buy eggs from local chicken owners and if their hens are not laying I buy free range from the supermarket.
