Re: vanilla paste

Welcome to the forum kazatiggax smile

I have bought it in the past in
Waitrose .
Did you ask the staff in Sainsburys , it might just be sold out there as a result of the tv show.

Re: vanilla paste

Hi kazatiggax, welcome to the forum.

Like mummza I've also bought it from Waitrose in the past.  But if you can't get it and don't want to use a vanilla pod, then extract is good. But DON'T use essence, it's just a nasty artificial imitation.

Re: vanilla paste

It was interesting in Australia when chefs like Jamie began complaining about vanilla essence, saying it was horrible and artificial and we should look for vanilla extract instead.
In Australia our vanilla essence was a high quality. Artificial vanilla extract had to be labelled so.
When people started clamouring for vanilla extract (after watching UK shows) the company put a tiny pamphlet with every bottle explaining that they use real vanilla and how high the quality was, but it was no use.
The next batch came out in smaller bottles,a bit thicker, higher price and labelled 'vanilla extract'. Plus they brought out vanilla paste. Excellent products but I had to chuckle.

Good luck Kazitiggax, just make sure that what you find is real vanilla!

Re: vanilla paste

A firm called Little Pod does vanilla paste, ask at your local independant deli/wholefood shop ,it's abit more expensive but ethically sourced.
