I may make sticky rice with mango.  That's a favorite of both of ours.

This is where you have to become "inventive" with words. You coud make something with bow tie pasta and say you have "Tie" food.... tongue

Coconut  lol

are the thai dishes what we call sweet, sour, salty or bitter? was about to add another word, but thought i mustn't....

I love Chinese and Japonese, i have always thought that Chinese and Thai were alike, but Thai isn't as fine as in the quality.

Re: Wouldn't it be cool?

Thai has a royal and a peasant cuisine, a modern cuisine.... and different regions
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thai_cuisine

My jaw dropped Kye, when you said you thought Thai wasn't as fine in the quality because my first experience was listening to David Thompson who learnt royal dishes, but I note in this article that he began from the same standpoint
http://www.australianbeers.com/beers/in … son/dt.htm

Here are some fine quality dishes: http://www.riversidehotelsbangkok.com/f … /food2.jpg
and this watermelon bowl, beautiful: http://www.templeofthai.com/images/frui … lowers.jpg

But since I don't use fish sauce, I do find this a tricky cuisine! Hooray for those vegetarian links! Thanks Frizz. smile

Re: Wouldn't it be cool?

Okay, I will make an effort MsK!

I will find and share the first recipe I had with 'Thai' in the title. I don't think it is very authentic... but it does have 'Thai' in title! And it is a great dish: easy, delicious, tastes even better after a few days in the fridge.
I'd recommend for anyone who would like to cook Thai on the 1st of April, but isn't confident.
