Re: who's knocking at the kitchen door

Well, the wonder is that anyone knew I was building them at all really.
Other than the large lorry with the crane on the back to deliver the wood, no-one would have known.
I built the 'beds' when most folks were out shopping/working & whatnot, so hammering & drilling was a bit sneakily done!
I think it's more likely that folks hadn't seen me about, as I was busy 'round the back' sorting compost bins out etc.

Now I have 3 compost bins completely emptied (the compost straight into the beds) & the unrotted stuff I couldn't shift straight away has been well mixed & turned & has topped up the others for emptying in a month or so's time.

I have already sown Shallots, early Mixed Salad Leaves, Beetroots, Radish & Spring Onions in there (under cloches) with lots more to go in shortly.

All this labour has released another bed (where I had to grow veg last year) for the proposed new Herb Garden to be planted up. These won't be 'medicinal', but 'culinary'...........something I have been wanting for a while. With this in mind I have been growing on seedling/young plants in pots ready to go out as soon as the weather improved a little. We are on the cusp of doing just that, & it's so exciting.
