cooking Lamb Shanks for supper
I am cooking lamb shanks for supper today in the slow cooker,
Lamb shanks, browned in a frying pan
Onions garlic
an apple
mixture of herbs
bayleaves
peppercorns
passata
and red wine
Its the red wine that has caused me the problem ... I was in the supermarket this morning and I bought a bottle of a decent but reasonable priced red wine to cook the lamb shanks in , together with the other ingredients.
I was just about to get in the car when I realised that I was going to find opening the bottle difficult , so I asked a lady iwho was passing through the car park if she could loosen the top of my bottle of wine so that I can cook with it as soon as I got home .. oh dear .. it wasnt realy untill afterwards that I realised how terrible that would have looked ,she probably thught ..
"its a few minutes after 10 am and that woman is already on the wine "
oh dear it must have looked so bad ![]()

A simple, practical solution . . . here you could risk getting into trouble if the police stopped you for any reason . . . we aren't supposed to have open alcohol in the car.
I guess those wine boxes are a practical solution for some folks!

Don't think too much, Mummza, or you'll end up being me
.
Who cares? Will probably never meet her again.
Umm, easy to say ...

Just realised, your lamb shanks are quite a bit different to mine.
Diversity is a good thing.

Re: cooking Lamb Shanks for supper
I never follow a recipe Maree and nog being 'a meat eater ' I just put together what I think .
Generally with a good slosh of wine . ( or half a bottle for the lamb shanks ) my nephew kept telling me now delicious they were .
What do you put with your lamb shanks !
I just browned the meat and onions and bunged it all in the slow cooker for hours.
