how do I know the artichoke is ready

to be cropped. It's the first time I grow one and it's started producing fruits, the main one is as larga as my fist, there are lateral ones ready to grow. Shall I wait for it to become older or bigger ........... someone told me it's better to crop it young think

The arichoke needs aprox. 1 hr in the oven. When i'm not sure if it's done or not I check the following:

- has the artichoke open and seperated its leaf like a flower? If the answer is yes it's a good sign

- if you squeze the lower part of the artichoke it should feel a bit resistent but NOT hard.

- Slow cooking, and some nice bread to soak up the absolutely faboulose oil left in the tray....

I don't know Mada, I'll ask my Dad tomorrow. I do think on the small side is good, not sure.
