Re: magazine

I don't mind Super Food Ideas or the Donna Hay mags. They have a few good recipes in them. smile

Re: magazine

I find that food magazines get a bit repeatative after about 2 years. I have got about 3 years of the ABC delicious magazine and I'm now getting it again because they offered a cheap deal on subscription but it doesn't hold my interest like it used to. I like gourmet traveller but it's a touch too expensive. Donna Hay has too much white space for my liking.

Re: magazine

Delicious is the best cooking magazine in the UK at the moment.

Re: magazine

mmhh

so many ads..I guess they need them to keep the magazine running.
My main query with Delicious is why do we need to have full page spreads with chefs' photos? Jamie is cute, I must admit, but even I get tired of seeing endless photos of him. Then you add oll those other celebrity chefs and half of the mag is them modelling! I know what they look like!

Personally I would like more step by step shoots (of food preparation, that is).

Re: magazine

I am totally addicted to food magazines!!!  big_smile

I buy Donna Hay, Delicious, Australian Gourmet Traveller, Olive, and Waitrose. Then there are a couple of Norwegian magazines that I buy when I'm home...
And if I'm out travelling and find something interesting you can be sure that I pick it up!

But all the magazines I buy here are either Australian or from U.K... I don't like the American ones at all!

And don't even get me started on the cook books... whistle
I just got Thomas Keller's French Laundry and Pierre Herme's Dessert-and I love them both!

Re: magazine

Hey confuzed,

you sound worse than me!  lol
I love books, and the two American books you mentioned even have photos (a luxury in America!). Pierre Herme's is good, but not as good as my last dessert book discovery, Alessandra Zecchini's Sweet As. I am making two or three recipes each week now!

I can't decide on magazines...too difficult.
Donna Hey: nice photos, end of story
Delicious: too many chefs spoil the broth
Gourmet Traveller: nice travel, but not enough follow up with exotic flavours...once I bought one of the Australian GT because they were talking about Sicilian ice cream..lots of photos...you would hope for some recipes...nahhh!
Waitrose and other supermarket magazines always fail to excite me and I am certailnly not a Martha Stewart type.

Maybe I am just too fussy oops

if I became rich my dream would be to have my own food and life-style magazine!! roll  roll  roll

then I could even meet Jamie  big_smile  big_smile  big_smile

Confuzed, you could be my book reviewer!

bye  smile
