Re: Tinned tuna

Tuna and pasta is great.

Cook kid's favourite pasta.

While water is heating, saute some onion (about 1/2 onion per tin of tuna).  Add flour to golden onion to make a roux.  Add pepper for a few seconds, then milk to make cream sauce.  Toss in a can of tuna (or salmon, or mackeral, or some cooked ground beef).  Add about 1/2 - 1 cup frozen peas, some pepper to tase, a little parmesan cheese and then the cooked noodles.  Stir until the peas are cooked (but not gray).  Add milk if it gets too thick.

One tin of tuna will feed 2 - 3 kids.  Nutritious, delicious and cheap!

Add a tin of tuna in springwater or brine to this recipe...

Easy Vegetable Pasta

1 can italian diced tomatoes, or 4 large ripe tomatoes
1 onion, diced
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 cob corn, kernals removed
1 carrot, grated
1/2 capsicum, diced
1 small zuchini, grated
Handfull green olives, sliced (stuffed or unstuffed)

ground oregano
good pinch rosemary and thyme leaves, fresh or dried
Handful fresh basil or 2 tsp dried

Saute onion and garlic until soft. Add veges, olives, rosemary, and oregano and saute a few minutes. Add tomatoes and 1-2 cans of water. Season and simmer for at least an hour. Just before serving stir in the tuna and tear in the basil leaves. Warm through. Serve with noodles of your choice and grated cheese. You can also use dried herbs. Add/substitute any other veges you like.
