Mushroom Picking
Hi there
My brother would like to be taken mushroom picking with a 'professional' so that he can learn more about what is edible, and where to find them etc. I was wondering if anyone knew of any such people that would do that?? He lives in a village just outside of Bath in Wiltshire. Any advise or direction would be much appreciated!
Thank you
Gemma

Whenever we pick mushrooms we have our little book with us, if they correspond to eadible fungi, we pick them check with our local chemists just in case.

Re: Mushroom Picking
What I learned online is to always do a spore test and find out what you really have. Also, always dig up the entire mushroom to look for universal/partial veil. And according to common advice, you have to cook the mushrooms completely and then only have a bite or so the first day. I like raw mushrooms and figure if they're not poisonous, why have to cook them? But it's all to be on the safe side.

wine-o, that is great! I always saw that motif in Holland this time of year. I know it has ancient religious connections, but can't really remember what . . .
