Is it the decade of the food stylist?

Is it just me or have magazines, blogs and even the supermarket "food magazines" gotten much more into having really good photos of food in recent years?

A couple that I look at (just for gluten free but they are also pretty)

I've always been one for a photo with every recipe in cookbooks.

Re: Is it the decade of the food stylist?

Think I have fixed that now Coco,, I didnt manage to press the keyboard keys hard enough to create the space.
there are a couple more links that I think one of my daughters will soom add that are similarish pages although having tried a recipe from one of the sites , she feels it is more about the styling of the food that the resulting taste .

I think there is a trend towards more food styling these days , looking at cookbooks from even just a couple of years ago the way food is now styled in the books is quite different.
Like otherthings I think that these things go in waves of trends, few years back almost all food photographes were with food on white plates, now not so many white plates are in the photographs and photographs seem to  show a lot of scattered ingredients as well as the finished dish . ( giving the impression often that although the finishes dish looks amazing it is really quite acheivable to cook at home )

I think that this change has partly come about with different sites becoming popular on the internet that allow the sharing of food photographs easily, sites like pintrest and even instagram that all can be posted on easily give people more interest and ideas about what can be acheived and different ways of presenting the finished dishes.

I was looking back at the Great British Bake Off book today , this is based on a television series  , this was the first series book that I was looking at , the baking in it is apealling and fairly rustic looking in comparison to the more recent series, ( the latest series and book being called 'show stoppers' ) the format of the television show was much the same , the challanges given to the contestants was much the same but the baking has gradually got more presise in the presentation.

I was given a book for my birthday this year which is simply about food photography. I must get round to reading it and see if the tips in it are helpful.

Newer cameras even have features designed for food photography.  I want to see great photos in cookbooks.  I like to see how plates are arranged.  And, with all the technologies and softwares for photography, even amateur equipment can give fantastic results, even photos taken with iPhones.
