Re: THE gluten-free thread
Country life brand of gluten free bread has just been re-released and I think it tastes a whole lot better than it did before.

Re: THE gluten-free thread
I experimented with a gluten free puff pastry recipe today, and was really pleased with the results. I've posted the recipe and results on my blog page

Re: THE gluten-free thread
I may now join the club. I have been gluten, soy, dairy, legume and sugar free for 3 months. I've had bread on 2 occasions since then, rice also on 2 occasions. But for the most I don't eat any of that anymore.
I am intollerant to:
wheat
oats
gluten
tomato
dairy
legumes.
I also don't have sugar anymore, so my dieat consists of meat, fish, eggs, veg, fruit, nuts and seeds. I feel great, I eat really well and I've lost 14lbs.

Re: THE gluten-free thread
I had an inmunology specialist go through the whole of my medical history since birth. She and some collegues then proceded to take blood tests and matched a repeating pattern with symptoms that have been present my whole life, especially certain types of infections. These led them to believe these intollerances were actually causing my immune system to breakdown until I finally contracted my illness and it became chronic. Now eliminating all these foods has become part of a process to repair my immune system and hopefully take me off my drugs as I respond naturally. this will lead me to no longer have to control my illness with meds but with a restored immune system.
I actually have many less symptoms since I no longer have dairy and gluten I feel much better.
I'm pretty satisfied as the examinations where so thourough every part of my body was studied with extreme detail, seriously up to the point of embarrassing. But it really was worth it.

Ok Debs...that sounds "Pukka", there are so many "Charlatans" around that claim to be able to diagnose these sort of problems, I was concerned that you had fallen foul of one...obviously not the case. ![]()

Thanks, I apreciate the concern. I doyuble checked with the hospital too. I'm wary of all these miraculous diets. I wanted to be healthy not 'thin'. ![]()

Re: THE gluten-free thread
There are all sorts of "Quacks" over here that claim to be able to diagnose intolerance/allergy to foodstuffs by taking cuttings of hair or connecting you to an electronic gizmo....When I was diagnosed with my allergy (Peanut) I had the skin prick test...no result, Rast (Blood) no result and finally the "Double blind" test....with a crash team in the room....Just as well.. ![]()
