How many bins do you get?
Other then our normal rubbish bins we have:
Everyone:
Big ones for garden waste
Small ones for food waste
Open ones for recycling
Just us:
sealed ones for incineration
So that is one house with 5 different types of rubbish collection
What do you lot have?

Re: How many bins do you get?
the only bin we are allowed to put out where I live is a food waste bin this is collected weekly ,
but we also have a green recycling bag collection once a week
and a black bag non recyclable collection once a fortnight
we produce.. almost no foodwaste as veg peelings go into the compost bin so its literally things like bones or meat trinnings and the odd kitchen scrap
a fair amount of green bag recycling
very little black bag waste ( and dont always put it out till the following collection week)
edit... I forgot the garden waste bags , the garden waste gets collected once a fortnight on oposite weeks to the black non recyclable waste.
so one week ..
Food waste , green recycling bags and white garden bags
the next week we put out
Food waste , green recycling bags and black non-recyclable waste.
what happens to this is ..
the food waste goes to a special heat composter
the white bags of garden waste goes into a heat composter but (I think I was told that sonething else happened to it also because of the woody trimmings that gardens can produce)
black bags go to land fill
Green bags for recyclables.. get sorted and recycled

Our local taxes / finances taxes automatically allow us to have free bins.
Last night some kids ripped off my home waste bin cover (though solidly fixed) to make a sledge with, all i have to do is call the Town Hall to have it replaced...for free, otherwise the rubbish men will start to complain ![]()
Last time the wheel broke and it was replaced within a week.

Re: How many bins do you get?
ours used to include free garden waste collection (so long as it fitted in the food waste bin, which goes to make compost)
now in yet another TAX HIKE we have to pay for it......

NOT fair
I noticed in England (Essex) that the rules must have been invented by a crazy guy with nothing else to do. Calenders show dates for which bins to put outside for the rubbish men...most people are lost, the crazy thing was with the food bin in the kitchen that was to be tranferred to another bin... and so easy for the cats/foxes, whatever to dine with.

Re: How many bins do you get?
Portland has a recycle program. You have to buy blue bags to put your recycling in to be picked up. The complex where I live does not have a recycling area so everything goes into the dumpster or I'd have to drive it to someplace for recycling. All grocery stores have plastic bottle recycling because you pay for the bottles when you buy them. So, if I buy a soda in a plastic bottle I get charged .05 and I get it back if I bring it in to recycle.
