They've always been part of the mediterranean diet but I'm not sure if they are now carbs and the paleo-primal diet avoids them entirely - including peanuts which are technically a legume but I haven't gotten to the bottom of why.
Peanuts grow under ground, don't they? Hence, legume
I meant that I haven't gotten to the bottom of why legumes are avoided in the paleo-primal diet.

Koukou, this might help sum up some of the legume debate -

And on another note, I found this to be a fascinating and thought-provoking article and pertinent to this thread:

Have you watched the movie? What should I research?
The author of the link you posted doesn't offer much concrete information about herself so it's not possible for me to judge whether it is actually unbiased or credible.
She does give her diet though. Notice the lack of dairy products, grains and for meat "occasional organ meats (raw or lightly cooked; maybe once or twice per month)"

The Atkins diet was only bad because it was low fibre. There is no correlation between the fat you eat and the level of cholesterol in your blood, whether saturated, unsaturated. It makes no difference, apart from to the taste of things. Mmmmmm butter in spinach.
