OF OUR GOAL OF £1,300,000!
The Better Food Foundation is a food education charity registered in England and Wales (no. 1094536). It consists of three UK projects:
In the USA we have the Jamie Oliver Food Foundation, which is a Delaware non-profit public benefit corporation, currently applying for federal income tax exempt status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
In Australia we work with The Good Guys and their charitable arm, The Good Foundation, to facilitate and fund our Ministry of Food project.
Jamie Oliver founded the charity in 2002. Lots has happened since then, so be sure to read ‘Our History’ and all about the activities.
Not a penny! In fact, he sets his own businesses individual fundraising targets to help the Foundation. He also dedicates a huge amount of time to the Foundation and its activities, in parallel with his global campaigns for better food education. It’s something that is close to his heart and he’s hugely passionate about it.
Jamie personally donated all his royalties from his successful cookbook, Cook with Jamie, to the Foundation. His businesses and staff all support the Foundation wherever possible, through donations, volunteering, fundraising or in-kind services. As a charity we cannot solely rely on Jamie, and to be sustainable we have to raise as much as we can from as many sources as possible.
Every year a number of Jamie's businesses are tasked with raising £450,000 of much-needed funds for the Foundation. This equates to just under half of our annual fundraising target.
Jamie is an active campaigner and great supporter of many social causes. As much as he'd like to be available wherever he can, his time and energy is dedicated to the work of his Foundation. Jamie has big plans to put food education on the radar of every individual - worldwide.
The Foundation’s vision is to join forces with like-minded charities and individuals who share our belief that better food = better lives. The plan is to create a global food movement where we can support and fund food educational projects. It’s a big vision, and one that will take a number of years, but we’re hugely passionate about making it happen.
