Tip & Tricks for baking with kids

Watch Jools and Buddy in action baking these delicious cookies – made with porridge oats, which are a high-fibre carbohydrate, they’ll keep you feeling fuller for longer.

One of the easiest ways to get kids excited about cooking is to bake some sweet treats together. My lot love making a basic sponge – it’s super easy to whip up, and a great recipe to help build their confidence in the kitchen.

My kids love making gingerbread biscuits – they can help with rolling, stamping and decorating. Mix up the shapes of the cutters you use and set out little bowls of edible decorations for them to choose from – they make great gifts, too.

Knowing how to make a basic meringue recipe opens up a whole world of possibilities on the pudding front. If you’re after a super-speedy dessert, smash and layer it up with seasonal fruit and yoghurt. Check out my mate Jemma’s recipe here.
