Ingredients
Sausages, onion, canned tomatoes, your choice of either lentils, bortolini beans, or chickpeas, fresh basil
Method
Brown the sausages under the grill. Chop onion finely and cook for 5 mins in a large pot. Add canned tomatoes, beans (or other choice). When the sausages are browned cut in half and add to the tomato mixture in the pot. Reduce heat to low and simmer for 20 mins. Add torn fresh basil and simmer for a further 5 mins. You can use dried basil if fresh isn't handy..but fresh is best.
If I'm in a tearing hurry I serve this with rice and some steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Otherwise my family enjoy it with mashed potatoes and whatever other veg we have on hand.
tried this recipe or a similar one? share your tips...
Try adding some demerara or brown sugar in with the onions until caramelised and sticky. Into the stock mix add 1 teaspoon of Coleman English mustard, and 1 teaspoon paprika, yummy. Ends up sweetish with a slight heat from mustard. I cooking it tonight.
I just made this tonight. on a whim I added cinnamon. I thought it worked well.

Me and my Family love this recipe, thanku :)
@ Paddy, well said!
@ Myles - what a pratt. Remember that 'i' is with a capital letter you fool, as in, "...I think you need to find something constructive to do rather than nit pick at other people for no good reason..."
Myles / Miles?
Make sure your own grammar is upto standard before commenting on others!
"i notcied you spely"
I came across your receipe today at 15:51pm, i scrolled down and thought what a nice , quick thing to make, it sounded yummy! However, as i scrolled back up i notcied you spely tomato incorrectly consequently, i was put off on using your receipe and found Gordon Ramsey had a much better receipe with perfect spelling and grammar.
Yours Faithfully, Myles Lee Halford xx
