Don't be so intolerant Parker. You jaded, sceptical, opinionated types have no place in a society where people who, due to some genetic defect, are shunned as outcasts. You should be ashamed.

the only bread-type food I've found like this is 'mountain bread' sold here in OZ, a sort of flat, thin pitta-like bread - but thinner - that they make with rice, wheat or rye flours....

there's a sweet potato bread here:

It's like you need a non-wheat savory cake ... raised with baking soda, (a bit problematic as that can taste so soapy if you overdo it) and with oil rather than butter.

You might need to spend some time in the kitchen experimenting. I have a gluten-free (rice based) pizza dough mix in the pantry...

I have a mate whose wife is all of the above intolerant - he makes an amazing gluten egg and milk free bread - i will email him for the recipie
(btw if you make toast with this it keeps warm for ages ! )

He specialises in very experimental bread mixes cos of his wife and they take little or no time to make.

Re: Is there a tasty bread recipe without yeast, wheat, sugar and dairy

I came across a good gluten free one the other day, unfortunately it uses yeast and it depends on eggs for it's texture.  The biggest problem with gluten free breads is creating any kind of texture that resembles wheat bread.  You wind up, ah, adjusting your thinking about bread.  They also don't keep well so most people keep them in the freezer and use them slice by slice.  And they always taste better toasted.  Never eat gluten free bread untoasted puke

But you might go to glutenfreeforum.com and ask in their recipe threads.  Lots of people there have multiple allergies and intolerances so someone might have some ideas for you.

I am also learning to make mochi which is made with sweet rice flour and water and a little salt and sugar.  It's an Asian food.  If done right, which I haven't entirely managed yet whistle it puffs up nicely and has an almost bread like texture to it.  So you might look that up too.  Good Luck.  I know how hard multiple intolerances can be.

Gluten free doesn't really work with bread. THere are commercial varieties that you can prefrozen. They are all pretty awful but sometimes that "bread" craving (usually a "carriage of jam to mouth" urge) is too much so it's handy to keep one in the freezer. You will get over bread. Nothing replaces wheat in that way.

Sugar is an interesting intolerance. My understanding is that it is very rare. It's a very simple chemical and therefore not often associated with intolerance.

Be careful of rice flour, etc from asian grocery stores. It can be milled on equipment used to mill wheat. I'm very very gluten intolerant and have reacted to it before.

Check out our very own gluten free thread, you may find something there.

There are a couple reasons why sugar would bother someone.  Sugar feeds yeast problems such as Candida overgrowth which could lead to symptoms when consuming sugar.

There is also a suspcion in the U.S. about sugar that isn't pure cane.  Sugar Beets sometimes used to make sugar could in theory be cross contaminated at harvest and pass that onto the finished sugar product.  I've taken to purchasing pure cane sugar which is more expensive but safer for that very reason.  And most obviously pure sugar intake spikes blood sugar which could make some people feel sick to their stomachs.
