A Manhattan cocktail is full of powerful flavours and, with its cherry garnish, ticks all the boxes for being a stay-at-home cocktail supremo.
Here I’m going to walk you through the steps.
You will need a rye whiskey, Angostoura bitters and a red vermouth – here we’re using the utterly beautiful Noilly Prat Rouge (do read about my adventures learning about this glorious vermouth in Marseillan), but Martini Rosso works just as well.
This makes two drinks.
Chill your glass and mixing jug
Add a dash of bitters
Add one single measure of your red vermouth
Add a double measure of the rye whiskey
Stir for 30 seconds
Divide between two glasses. Put the beautiful sticky black cherries onto a cocktail stick
Serve and enjoy this simple yet deeply-flavoured classic.
