Re: Advice - I have a rat.

I actually think that letting my dogs "hunt" gives them a sense of achievement and they feel like they're fully doing their job of protecting the house. Plus we humanize them so much, letting them act upon their instinct is probably what they want.

Re: Advice - I have a rat.

I wouldn't be able to pick it up dead or alive. You don't know how terrified I am of them. I can't even go onto other site to find out about catching them or killing them because it's making me sick.

Re: Advice - I have a rat.

you poor thing. I know how you feel my mum has a rat/mice/rodent phobia and she'll faint and be ill for days, she can't even see them on a tv screen.

This is one of those times where you need a friend you can trust I think.

I use the pooper scooper to scrape it up and then slide into a bag and then into the bin.

Re: Advice - I have a rat.

My brother just called me. someone in his job deals with that kind of stuff. He catches rats with his hands(mad B*****d) and will come out to me this evening after work. In the meantime, a friend of mine will be down in an hour or so. I'm afraid to let my poor dog out in case the rat jumps at it. Thanks guys exclaim

I hope you find a solution soon jase. smile

You may need to re-think your composter if it is not sealed.

It has a lid but the bottom door where you'd take the compost out is gone because of the dog but it's just compost at the bottom.

Re: Advice - I have a rat.

I just moved my foot and felt something and I jumped. It was the dog sitting under me. I think I have to get out of the house for the day.

Can you cover the bottom hole with some mesh?

Re: Advice - I have a rat.

Should be able to alright. I think I could have the cover off it in the shed, but I won't be going out till I know the rat is gone.
