Mum's rice pudding with sultanas followed by apple & blackberry crumble. My girls aren't fond of rice pudding so I never make it these days but I think apple crumble would be one of their favourite puddings that I make.
Falcon, don't get me started on school dinner puddings

Hi Georgia!!
My late Dad who was assisted by my late Mum, would make delicious winter puddings i.e. rice or bread & butter puddings & the golden syrup or lemon steamed puddings & apple crumble!!
Tho! my favourite (not a baked pudding sorry) would be just simply...rhubarb picked from my fathers garden - which was just boiled/stewed & served with hot bubbly custard!!!!
One time as a teenager tho...I was asked to keep an eye on the pot full of rhubarb & forgot....& so the rhubarb was burnt to the pot
...hmm, I was in trouble that day ![]()

As mom worked, I don't remember many desserts except at Christmastime. I started baking at a young age with disasterous results! I am a bit better at it now.....lol

Blackberry tart with custard. My mother made the best pastry.

My mother didn't cook so I loved staying with my grandfather, particularly when his sister from the country was visiting, too. She used to make delicious rice custard, with a few different variations.

My mother used to make the most amazing bougatsa!
That is too funny.. I just finished posting on a different forum about bougatsa and galaktobureko.
I didn't have the fortune of growing up with these fantastic things, but my wife and I go out of our way occasionally to go to a greek bakery for them or make them ourselves .
My mom, didn't make a lot of sweets while we were growing up, but I always enjoyed her holiday baking. Christmas was lemon cookies, and crescent cookies( this used a special type of ammonium bicarbonate that she had to buy at the pharmacy). Summer would be strawberry shortcake. Fall was pies for thanksgiving . Apple and pumpkin. (No minnie, it was not pumpkin tart)

Tell us more....what is "bougatsa!"
Terry
It's yummy! Basically it's a creamy custard that is placed in between sheets of phyllo dough or wrapped in phyllo dough. It's most often eaten as a breakfast item but I'll eat it anytime. Served warm and sprinkled with powdered sugar and cinnamon.
