Jamie Magazine was named Launch of the Year at the prestigious ACE International Circulation & Distributor Awards this week.
The magazine, published by Jamie Oliver, took the award at the annual ceremony organised by the influential Association of Circulation Executives to recognise international publishing achievement, held in London on Tuesday evening (1 December).
The judges commented that the shortlist showed “an excellent selection of launches, particularly as promotional budgets had been cut in a very challenging year,” but added that “Jamie Magazine was a clear winner.”
Jamie was launched in December 2008 to little or no marketing fanfare, but has soon established itself as a benchmark for quality in its sector. Its first ABC-audited circulation of 75,369 (Jan-Jun 2009) was the highest for any new title. The magazine is currently on sale in 46 territories worldwide and within a year of its launch is already the best-selling UK food magazine in big overseas markets such as the USA, Australia and Germany.
Jamie Oliver said: “We’ve really tried to give the public something really special with this mag and are constantly looking for ways to push photography and writing to another level. So for our small team, this award really means a lot – especially in this tough climate. Thanks so much to everyone who has contributed and supported it!”
